In the beginning…
Somewhere in the last century Belgian Arne Lauwers, MA in East Asian studies, owned with his spouse their own private school.
One day he said to his wife:
“It is time for something different. Go to sleep and by the time you wake up I will have come up with something new in my life.”
The next morning his muse woke up next to a game inventor. He’d invented the Arne® card game. He founded his own games company, Lauwers Games BV.
Arne
Lauwers Games BV produced their first game at the acclaimed Cartamundi® company (Turnhout, Belgium), world leader in the production of card games. Within a few years and with the huge support of Cartamundi® the game expanded to a whole product line (Arne® Classic, Arne® Total, Arne® Junior…).Lauwers Games BV distributed or licensed these games around the globe.

Project X
Great! Why not think bigger? And so Arne Lauwers invented Project X®. An I spy with my eye board game, that used the unique game mechanic of a game board cut in 9 pieces that was printed on both sides, again produced at Cartamundi®.
Lauwers Games BV distributed it all over Europe and presented it on all leading toy fairs at the time. Winning several awards it soon drew the attention of Hasbro® that promptly licensed it and rebranded it to “Pictureka!”®
Pictureka!® took a flying start and nearly 2 decades later is still going strong.
Arne took a well deserved sabbatical and continued to invent a whole bunch of new games:
2 player games, card games, board games, fantasy games, family games, I spy with my eye games, quiz games…
